Projektbeschreibung der*des Nominierenden
| Professor Johnston is a pioneer in the studies of political campaigns and their effects on voters. As principal investigator of large-scale Canadian and American election studies he developed the so-called “Rolling Cross Section” research design (RCS), which brought a major breakthrough to this area of research. He published several landmark studies which effectively shattered the dominant 'minimal effects' consensus on the role of campaigns for election outcomes. During his stay in Germany, Professor Johnston aims to capitalize on the RCS studies conducted in many democracies by embarking on a cross-temporal and cross-country comparative exploration of campaign effects. |
